backOn March 19, 2025, the AICPA released its 2024 Highlights Report of its Enhancing Audit Quality (EAQ) Initiative.
The EAQ Initiative gathers and analyzes auditor performance data to identify areas of challenges and areas of focus for the following year. The 2024 Highlights Report summarizes the EAQ Initiative’s work in its five areas of focus for 2024: (1) risk assessment; (2) quality management; (3) technology-enabled auditing; (4) single audit; and (5) SOC 2 engagements. The Highlights Report also disclosed that the EAQ Initiative will keep the first four areas of focus for 2025 and add emerging attestation engagements as the fifth area of focus, replacing SOC 2 engagements.
