Marine Money has recognized King & Spalding for the firm’s role advising Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group on a $500 million financing package that earned its “Innovation Deal of the Year” award.
The award is part of the publication’s 21st annual shipping finance Deals of the Year awards, which honor deals that “reflect not only financial excellence, but the ability to navigate uncertainty, seize opportunity, and push the industry forward,” according to the organization.
The firm represented Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group, a global leader in luxury travel experiences, in connection with a complex $500 million financing package underwritten by Citibank. The financing package allows Abercrombie & Kent to refinance its existing legacy financing arrangements and provides a clear runway for expansion of its global travel business.
The King & Spalding transatlantic team was led by partner Marisa Sotomayor in New York, with London based partner Amin Doulai advising on the English law elements of the transaction and associate Michael Langan providing tax advice. The team was also comprised of counsel George Komnenos in New York and senior associate David Phillips in London.
